3.56

Riesling

Sweet dessert

Vintage Notes:

Excellent flowering conditions in the Spring led to a bumper crop for most varieties. The challenge at harvest time was the fickle weather. Thanks to careful monitoring of the grapes, and meticulous organisation above and beyond the call of duty at our winery South Pacific Cellars, we stayed on target for timely harvest at optimum conditions. Not everyone was so fortunate this year

Vineyards:

Hand harvested from our own Falcon Vineyard, Rapaura District of Marlborough. Three rows were especially left late into the season to ripen further and pick up some botrytis characters.

Vinification:

Whole bunch pressed with skin contact for three hours. Coaxed through ferment in a stainless steel tank and carefully filtered, before hand bottling by a combined Lake Chalice and South Pacific Cellars team.

Tasting Notes:

Pale gold on release. Refreshing sweet oranges and lime on the bouquet, complemented by rich apricots, honey and honeysuckle. Full firm palate which shows depth and ripe apricots, honey beeswax and a silky finish.

Cellaring:

Enjoy now or over the next 2 years.

Food:

Ideal with desserts, cheeseboards or as an aperitif.

Accolades:

Released April 2009. Only 200 cases produced ( 6 x375ml) so we won’t be entering in any shows. That leaves more for us and our wine friends to enjoy.
