Notes: |
Nature gives and Nature takes away. After the devastating frost in November 2006, we were, to put it mildly a little disappointed to lose 30 acres of grapes at our Eyrie Vineyard in the Waihopai Valley. However, the long, warm autumn months ripened the second set of fruit, and presented us with a Cracklin' opportunity. |
Vineyards: |
Second set fruit from our own Eyrie Vineyard, Waihopai Valley, Marlborough. |
Vinification: |
The fruit was destemmed and crushed to the press. Several hours later, lightly coloured juice was pressed off the Pinot skins to tank to make this small batch of Rosé. Cool fermentattion with selected yeasts has retained the fruit characteristics of the grapes |
Tasting Notes:
|
A bright, fresh, appealing Rosé with perfumed aromas of strawberry and cherry. red berry fruits and citrus fill the palate with just a hint of sparkle from retained fermentation CO2. Great balance and a lingering crisp finish |
Cellaring: |
Chill it, flip the cap, and drink now |
| Food: |
Serve well chilled at your next BBQ, summer salads, cold meats, pasta, chicken and savoury foods |
